Ethics

In line with research ethics policies of Trinity College Dublin, GEOFIN project is scrutinised by the local Research Ethics Committee (REC).

In addition, following the requirements of the European Research Council (ERC), GEOFIN project is also overseen by an independent Ethics Advisor / Ethics Advisory Board. The main purpose of the Ethics Advisor / Ethics Advisory Board is to oversee the ethical dimension of the project and to act as an independent ethics expert giving advice to the Principal Investigator and the research team; and to perform this role in accordance with the highest ethical standards and best practice as specified in the EC guidance document Roles and Functions of Ethics Advisors/Ethics Advisory Boards in EC-funded Projects (EC, 2012) and related documents; including maintaining independence, integrity and confidentiality.
